Society of St. Vincent DePaul
Purpose:
The St. Andrew Conference was formed for the purpose of addressing the requests of persons living within the church’s geographical area for immediate financial assistance due to lost jobs, debilitating illness, or other catastrophic events in their lives. The scope of the Society is to engage in works covering the needs, trials, and tribulations of human life, both corporal and spiritual. Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are in need.
Responsibilities:
A Vincentian Coordinator monitors calls that come into our helpline and assigns the case to a Vincentian who will call another Vincentian to plan the required home visit. All visits are done in pairs and information about the needs of the client is documented. The types of expenses that may be discussed during the interview are rent, mortgage, utilities, and food and/or clothing requirements. All information concerning the clients and their needs are held in strict confidence.
Time Commitment:
Varied (approximately 2-3 hours per month or as needed). Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month.
St. Vincent de Paul, the Society's patron, is the "Apostle of Charity" and the "Father of the Poor". Vincent taught there is only one love. For him, love was the practical willing of another's best interest.

There are many ways you can get involved: be her “angel” by walking alongside her; providing rides to the doctor, grocery shopping, etc., sending letters of encouragement, getting her needed items by holding fundraisers, and praying for her.
Time Commitment:
Varies depending on present need, but, generally speaking, 3 to 4 hours a month, plus a meeting every 6 weeks when Project Gabriel meets to support each other and to discuss anything that needs attention.
