What is the Legion of Mary?
The Legion of Mary is an association of Catholic men and women that aims to sanctify its members by a balanced program of prayer and service in a family atmosphere, meeting the spiritual needs of the parish community. The Legion is an extension of the heart and hands of the parish priest.
The Legion of Mary Helps in Spiritual Formation
During the Legion meeting, spiritual formation is found in the Rosary, in the Legion prayers, in the spiritual reading and discussion, and in the talk by the spiritual director. Additional help comes from the wisdom and apostolic techniques learned from the reports which are presented and discussed. Every time legionaries come together for a meeting, it is as if they are gathered at the cenacle with Our Lady, as in the days of the first apostles. Every Legion meeting becomes the upper room where modern-day apostles gather together in a cenacle of prayer with Mary, asking the Holy Spirit to come upon them so they can do great things for the glory of God and the salvation of souls.
Join the Legion of Mary and Make Friends
The Legion's main purpose is to give glory to God and to help us become holy. It improves the relationship we have with God and the Blessed Mother, but it also enriches the relationship of friends who share the same interests in life.
Do you love our Blessed Mother? Do you have a desire to bring others closer to Jesus? If you have answered yes to these questions, then the Legion of Mary may be just for you. We meet every Monday for an hour and a half (except Memorial Day and Labor Day), starting at 7:00 PM in Mobile Unit 204. Our meetings consist of praying the rosary as well as other prayers and sharing in readings from the Legion handbook as well as discussing Legion business. We would love to have new members join us. If you feel that Mary is calling you to do more, please come and check us out. If you have questions, please contact Chris Pratscher at 815-886-6623.
