For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone.
The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.

April 20th and I think spring might actually be here next week. Keep your fingers crossed. Pictured above are the 6-8 graders in the state Capitol Building in Springfield. I was so luck to accompany them along with Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Czuczuk, and Mr. Fitzmaurice on the Friday before spring break. While in Springfield we visited Lincoln's tomb, his home, and the New Salem Village. The highlight of our trip however was our visit tot he Capitol. Once we visited the Old State Capital we went down the street to the new State Capitol. We took the standard tour but as promised during his visit last year, Majority Leader State Representative Durkin treated us to lunch. Afterwards one of his aids took us onto the floor of the House of Representatives and the students got to sit in their chairs and also had a chance to take pictures at the podium where the Speaker of the House sits. Finally, we were able to visit Governor Rauner's office and took a picture behind his desk. We are grateful to Representative Durkin for arranging such a wonderful surprise for us on our trip.
Our Gala is fast approaching. I am grateful for all the hard work done by our co-chairs, Susan Brown and Theresa Czaja and all of their committee members. We are still in need of donations of wine for the cork pull and there are still volunteer spots on the sign-up genius. The March service hour report is out and I will be reaching out to those of you who still need hours to give you a report on the number you still owe. Volunteering at the gala is a great way to enjoy a fun evening of dinner and music while fulfilling your service hour commitment. Don't forget to turn in your raffle tickets by Monday.
Registration is still ongoing. If you have not re-registered for next year and would like to talk with me about financial aid, please call the main office and we can set up an appointment. Don't forget about our family referral program. You can receive a $250.00 credit if you refer a family that stays for one full year at St. Andrew. Congratulations to the Alicia Ahlers and Erica Speck who were the winners of the school belles gift certificates for completing their registrations before the March 15th early registration deadline.
While we are still in the Easter season the student council will sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt on May 10th. They are still accepting donations of small, wrapped candy to fill the eggs. Service hours are available if you make a donation of candy. We no longer need plastic egg donations.
